DART CONTROLS PU-R SERIES SPEED PICKUP is an economical and reliable way to monitor motor speed. The PU-R series is rated NEMA 4 for outdoor applications where temperature, humidity, rain, and dust are present. The PU-R is also recommended for applications where water washdown is expected. Its unique design provides ease of installation to otherwise difficult to reach areas. Installation is simple - drill and tap a target shaft and you're done. The PU-R pickup operates at a 5 to 24 volt level producing a sharp square wave output, which may be fed into Dart's field programmable tachometer, closed-loop control, counter, or any other digital device. Completely self contained, the PU-E series eliminates the alignment hassle found with other devices. An excellent 'Motor Not Running' feedback device to PLC/SCADA systems.
Features:
- Single screw installation - no alignment needed
- For shaft speeds up to 5000RPM
- 6' cable provided with rubber jacket (may be extended up to 300')
- Supply Voltage: +5 to +24VDC
- NPN output - NPN sinks 50mA max
- Ambient temperature range: -40°C to +100ºC
- Santoprene injection molded head
- Enclosure rating: NEMA 4
Application Notes:
- If installing the unit on a motor purchased from Dart, the motor shaft is already drilled and tapped. If the motor is fan-cooled (TENV), remove the plug in the center of the fan guard before installing the pickup. Otherwise, damage to the pickup may occur.
- No other screws are necessary, as the cord will keep the unit from rotating.
- The PU gives a high signal when the North Pole in the magnet crosses the hall-effect transistor. The signal is switched off when the South Pole crosses the hall-effect transistor. The result is a square wave whose frequency is proportional to the speed of the shaft that the PU is mounted on. The number of North/South Pole pairs directly affects the output.
